Description
After some time, I noticed the cover was starting to sag. After all, PETG is not that appropriate, especially during hot summer days here in Portugal.
This new design is more suitable for ASA and other materials that can handle higher temperatures, but which tend to contract and deform when printed.
This version is thinner, but should hold really well.
Also, on this V2, I only added 1 design option, that doesn't hold to the light
Hope you like it.

ORIGINAL
I couldn’t fit this cover back on my E36 after reupholstering it. The clips just wouldn’t go in without risking breakage. So I designed a small modification. With this new approach, installation should now be much more straightforward.
To install it, I slightly lifted the front edge of the sunroof rubber seal and removed the sun visor mounts. This provided access to all the front, rear, and side clips of the cover.
You will need 8x Ø3x10mm bolts.
The clips have the ideal thickness. However, depending on your specific tolerances, you might need to add some tape or shave them slightly to improve fitment. Or let me know the right dimensions in the comments so I can redesign it.
I have different designs. The "Light" version uses the actual dome light to support the cover, just like the original. This light support is not strictly necessary, since the FRONT_CLIPS already provide proper fixation.
Make sure to print in PETG or, preferably, in a high-temperature filament like ASA to avoid warping in hot conditions.

Print price estimates
Planning prices for one print, not a final quote. Defaults use a size allowance inferred from the part name, not a measured or sliced model. Filament suitability must be confirmed.
| Filament | USD / print | Application notes |
|---|---|---|
| PLA | $17.50 | Indoor prototypes; not a default material for hot vehicle interiors. |
| PETG | $18.00 | General-purpose candidate; heat and creep need review. |
| ASA | $18.50 | Candidate for UV exposure; verify temperature and geometry. |
| ABS | $18.50 | Enclosed printing; review application and dimensions. |
| TPU | $20.00 | Flexible designs only; not a substitute for rigid materials. |
| Nylon | $20.00 | Moisture, tolerances and application require review. |
| PA-CF | $21.00 | Filled nylon; abrasive filament and fit need review. |
Pricing assumptions and exclusions
USD: ($6 setup + $3 finishing + filament weight × assumed spool cost × 1.25 waste allowance + print hours × $2.50 × material time factor) ÷ 0.65. Rounded up to the next $0.50.
Assumed spool costs per kg: PLA $25, PETG $30, ASA $40, ABS $30, TPU $45, Nylon $65, PA-CF $95. Time factors: PLA/PETG 1.0, ASA/ABS 1.2, TPU 1.6, Nylon 1.4, PA-CF 1.5. These are proposed shop rates, not measured production costs.
Design work, test fitting, hardware, shipping and tax are additional where needed. Multi-file sets may need several prints. Use actual sliced weight and time when available. Final pricing is confirmed in writing.
