Description

DISCLAIMER: I'm still perfecting this design and there are some things that need some more tweaking. With that, I am open to any suggestions and constructive criticism. And if you have any questions please ask. Enjoy!!
I wanted cool LED sequential turn signals but didn't want to pay $200+ for a set. I also wanted to use my turn signals as intakes since I have the air filter behind the headlight.
I found these Sequential LED strips on eBay that you can cut to the length you want. My design is basically just a housing and mounting solution for those LED strips.
Also would like to note this is probably not legal in most places,
The running light is white and the turn signal is amber that turns on sequentially. Video here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/hlg1kq/i_made_these_3d_printed_siquential_turn_signals/
See the Instructions PDF for a basic installation guide and some tips.
The turn signals now being LED will make the flasher relay hyperblink. To fix this you can replace a resistor on the relay. I linked the 1M resistors I used below. Here is a write up on how to do it: https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=335534
Hardware: 4x Socket Head M4x12mm
4x M4 Washers
4x M4 Nuts (I used Nylon Lock Nuts so they don't loosen accidentally)
2x Socket Head M5x16mm
2x Fender Washers (Needs to be bigger than a normal washer since the mounting hole is large and to spread out the load. You can make one from sheet metal if needed.)
2x M5 Nuts (Also Lock Nuts would be best)

Print instructions

Printer
Brand: Creality
Printer: Ender 3
Rafts: No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution: 0.2mm
Infill: 30%
Notes: I wouldn't add support to the small parallelogram features on the Front part. My printer was able to bridge over them fine. And it may be hard to remove support from there.
For material use anything that won't melt in direct sunlight. So not PLA.
Print them upside down of their orientation in the Thingiverse preview.

Print price estimates

Planning prices for one print, not a final quote. Defaults use a size allowance inferred from the part name, not a measured or sliced model. Filament suitability must be confirmed.

FilamentUSD / printApplication notes
PLA$28.50Indoor prototypes; not a default material for hot vehicle interiors.
PETG$29.00General-purpose candidate; heat and creep need review.
ASA$32.50Candidate for UV exposure; verify temperature and geometry.
ABS$31.50Enclosed printing; review application and dimensions.
TPU$37.50Flexible designs only; not a substitute for rigid materials.
Nylon$37.50Moisture, tolerances and application require review.
PA-CF$42.50Filled nylon; abrasive filament and fit need review.
Pricing assumptions and exclusions

USD: ($6 setup + $3 finishing + filament weight × assumed spool cost × 1.25 waste allowance + print hours × $2.50 × material time factor) ÷ 0.65. Rounded up to the next $0.50.

Assumed spool costs per kg: PLA $25, PETG $30, ASA $40, ABS $30, TPU $45, Nylon $65, PA-CF $95. Time factors: PLA/PETG 1.0, ASA/ABS 1.2, TPU 1.6, Nylon 1.4, PA-CF 1.5. These are proposed shop rates, not measured production costs.

Design work, test fitting, hardware, shipping and tax are additional where needed. Multi-file sets may need several prints. Use actual sliced weight and time when available. Final pricing is confirmed in writing.
